Daily Tour - Green Bursa from Istanbul, Istanbul Daily Tours
Daily Tour - Green Bursa (L)

Enjoy a day away from the bustle of Istanbut and discover Green Bursa, the former capital of the Ottoman Empire. We take you to the ferry early for an hour's cruise across the Marmara Sea to the port of Yalova, followed by a drive to Bursa. The Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans ruled this city, which is graced with many mosques, tombs and baths. Because of the tiles that decorate the monuments and the greenery of the town it's known as Green Bursa.

Uludag (Mount Olympos) rises to the south of Bursa. Good for hiking in the fresh, cool air in summer and for skiing in winter.

Green Tomb is the symbol of Bursa and one of the most beautiful examples of Ottoman architecture. It is the mausoleum of the fifth Ottoman sultan, Mehmet I. The exterior is covered with turquoise tiles.

Green Mosque, which takes its name from the green-blue tiles of the interior, was built in 1424 by Mehmet I. Its set on a promontory overlooking  the valley.

Silk Market, built in 1491 by Bayezit II, was also used as a caravanserai. Breeding silk worms and manufacturing silk has been highly developed in Bursa for many centuries.

Grand Mosque (Ulu Camii) was built in 1400 by Yıldırım Bayezit and is an excellent example of Ottoman architecture. It has no central dome. Instead it has 20 equal-sized domes that are supported by 30 pillars.
