Day 1 - Trabzon and Gumushane ( L / D ) We pick you up at your hotel early in the morning and take you to Istanbul airport for your flight to Trabzon. After you check into your hotel the tour begins. Sumela Monastery One of Turkey's most astonishing landmarks, this ancient monastery clings to the side of a mountain in Altindere National Park. It has been a place of pilgrimage since it was founded in the 4th century and even today pilgrims arrive from Greece and Russia. Karaca Cave, 1,550 metres above sea level, this geological wonder has a multitude of stalactites, stalacmites and travertines in different shapes and colours. You will enjoy marvellous views from here. Overnight stay in Trabzon.
Day 2 - Trabzon and Uzungol ( B / L / D ) After breakfast at your hotel we continue our tour. Church of St. Spohia, now a museum, was built in the 13th century when Trabzon was capital of the kingdom of Trebizond. The original frescoes, which were whitewashed over for several centuries, are now on display. Lunch at a local restaurant, with an opportunity to try some delicious Akcaabat meatballs, Uzungol is a hidden paradise in the Pontic Alps. Explore the village, hike around the lake and check into a traditional wooden hotel for a cosy night. Overnight stay in Uzungol.
Day 3 - Rize, Fırtına Valley, Camlihemsin, Ayder ( B / L / D ) Rize is the hometown of tea and we visit some tea groves and kiwi orchards while enjoying a panoramic view of the area. Camlihemsin, we drive up through the clouds to these beautiful rugged mountains that are watered by the Firtina River, which rushes down to the shores of the Black Sea. Firtina Valley is surrounded by the Kackar Mountains and here you will see many waterfulls, rushing rivers, ancient stone bridges and the beauty of Ayder. Goksu Waterfall is the highest in an area full of magnificent waterwalls and turbulent rivers. You will also visit Zil Castle, a Medieval fortress built on a high cliff overlooking the Firtina River. In the evening we check into a traditional wooden hotel in Ayder. Overnight stay in Ayder.
Day 4 - Ayder and Istanbul ( B / L ) Ayder is a high meadow area with hot springs, from where you can climb up to higher and even more remote villages and meet the local people. Overnight in Ayder. At the end of the tour, transfer to Trabzon for a flight to Istanbul, where we take you to your hotel.
