4-Day Tour - Cappadocia, Pamukkale &  Ephesus

Day 1 - North  Cappadocia Tour ( L

At  about  4.00am  we take  you  to  the airport  in  Istanbul  for  a  6.30am  flight  to  Kayseri (Cappadocia).  You arrive at  7.45am  and  your first stop  is  to  check  into  a cave  hotel  and have breakfast. These hotels  have bedrooms  dug  out  of  Cappadoccia's  famous  fairy  chimneys.  Some are  around 2,000  years  old,  yet  they  are  as  warm  and  comfortable  as  a good city hotel.

After breakfast at the  hotel your  fully-guided  North  Cappadocia  tour begins:

Uchisar, the  highest  point  of  Cappadocia  and  right  in  the  centre  of  the  region, is  a  troglodyte  town with  an  enormous  rock, which was used as a castle,  overlooking it.  From  this  vantage  point  you  can  enjoy  a  spectacular  view  of  the  fairy  chimneys.

Goreme  Open  Air  Museum  Goreme  was  an  important  Christian centre  in  the  early  Middle  Ages  and is now  a protected  world  heritage  centre.  A  walk round  this  network of  ancient  fresco-covered churches that  were laboriously  carved out of the rock so long ago is a  truly  moving experience.

Cavusin, a  deserted  town because  of  frequent  rock  falls,  was  once  inhabited  by  Dervishes  and Christians,  and  before that  by  the  Byzantines and Romans.  With its  beautiful  rock  houses,  this is one of the  essential  sights  of  Cappadocia.

Monks  Valley (Pasabag)  is  the  best  place  to  see  three-headed fairy  chimneys and  beautiful  natural  rock  formations .

Avanos  is  a  centre  for  the  local  pottery  trade,  where you will be given the chance to  try  your  hand  on  the  potter's  wheel .

Devrent  Valley, a  lunar  landscape  with  animal-shaped  pink  rocks  and some of  the  largest  fairy chimneys in Cappadocia.

Urgup's Fairy Chimneys are yet another variety of these unearthly shapes created by volcanic ash, erosian and the passage of time. These have  conical shaped bodies topped with a giant boulder.

At  the  end  of  the  tour ,   we take you back to  your  hotel  in  Cappadocia .

Day 2 - South  Cappadocia Tour ( L )

After  breakfast,  we  pick  you  up  from  your  hotel  and  your  full-day  guided   tour  (lunch included)  starts  with  a  panaromic  view  of  Goreme  with  its  unique  fairy  chimneys .

Underground  City -  an  unbelievable  experience,  as  you  head  down to  what  seems  like  the  centre  of the  earth.  Some  of  these  cities  go  ten  stories  underground  and  could  house  50,000 people,  with  their livestock  and  foodstores.  Possibly  built  by  the  Phyrigians  in  the 7th century BC, they were  later  used  as a  refuge  for  persecuted  Christians.

Ihlara  Valley  Explore  the  famous  rock-hewn  Byzantine churches  and  hike  4km  through  this beautiful  valley .

Selimiye  Mosque, this marvellous  complex  was  carved  into  the volcanic  rock during  the  Byzantine  era .

Pigeon  Valley,  see  the  cliffs  studded  with  pigeon  houses,  so  high  up it's  hard  to  believe  anyone  could reach  them  to collect  the  droppings that  were  sold  as  fertilizer.

At  the  end  of  the  tour you collect your luggage and head for  Pamukkale  by  overnight  bus.

Day 3 - Pamukkale  ( B / L )

Our first stop in Pamukkale is  for refreshments,  after which your full-day guided tour of  the area begins.  Pamukkale,  which means  cotton  castle,  was  formed  over  thousands of years by  the  natural  hot  springs,  rich  in  calcium  and carbonate,  that  flow  down  the  cliffs.  After exploring the travertines,  you  visit  the ancient  Roman  health  spa  of  Hierapolis,  famous for its  hot springs,  theatre,  agora  and  necropolis.

Bus to  Kusadasi, check  into  your  hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4 - Ephesus  ( B / L )

After  breakfast  your  full-day  guided  tour  of  Ephesus  begins.  Among  the  many  stunning  sights  you  will  see  the Temple of  Artemis  and  Hadrian,  one  of  the  seven  wonders  of  the  ancient  world,  the  Celcius Library  and  the  house  where  the  Virgin  Mary  is  said  to  have  spent  her  last  years.  At  the  end  of  your  tour  we  take  you  Izmir  airport  for  a  flight  to  Istanbul,  where  we  transfer  you to  your  hotel.
